Seating Capacity and Masks. While Phase III allows for 75% seating capacity, 6-foot distancing still applies and we’re still wearing masks in church.
- This means there will be little change in our seating for Mass.
- To ensure 6 foot distancing, every other pew will still be closed.
Choirs. Bishop Duca is encouraging small changes that show signs of progress. For example,
- While full choirs are not permitted at this time, Bishop Duca suggests “two or three singers can space out and be far from the congregation may be used to enhance the Liturgy.”
- A couple of our choirs are doing this already.
Homebound Communion. We have received permission for the homebound to receive Communion from family members who are in regular contact with the homebound parishioner.
- In order to minimize multiple people touching the pyx, please bring up your own pyx in the Communion procession.
- When you reach the minister, indicate how many hosts you need.
- Again, this is a change for how Communion is brought to the homebound. Do not leave your pyx on the altar before Mass.
Adoration Chapel. Bishop has allowed for adoration chapels to be reopened.
- Before the chapel reopens, Fr Matthew needs to consult with other pastors who have opened their chapels and parish leadership about a safety protocol that works.
- The adoration chapel is not open yet while this protocol is decided.
Funerals. Because communal parish events with food are not allowed at this time, repasts or receptions after the funeral are still on hold.
- Bishop Duca made no mention of allowing wakes or visitations before funerals.
- We are seeking clarity from the Bishop before any change is made to funerals.
